    Product Details

The Oval Alabaster Pendant Light hangs a single capsule of natural alabaster from a slim brass fitting, the stone cut thin enough that light travels through it rather than off it. Every shade is carved from quarried stone, so the veining belongs to that piece alone and only fully shows itself once the pendant is on.

The oval has no edge and no seam, which is why it reads as an object rather than a fixture — unlit it sits quietly against a wall or ceiling; lit, it warms through to a soft honey glow with no bright spot anywhere on it. At 3.9″ and 4.7″ across, these are small by design: one over a nightstand, a pair either side of a mirror, or three in a row above a kitchen island, where their scale keeps the sightline open. Available as a single pendant or a three-light linear arrangement, in brass with white alabaster.

    Why This One

    One Capsule of Stone

    ◆

    01

    No Edge, No Seam

The shade is turned from one piece of stone into a continuous oval — nothing joins, nothing meets at a corner. That is why it reads as an object on the ceiling rather than a fixture, and why the glow has no hard line anywhere on it.

    02

    Alabaster's Warm, Even Glow

Light travels through the stone rather than off it, so the shade never becomes a bright spot. What reaches the room is soft and honey-toned — gentle enough to read beside at night, which is more than most small pendants manage.

    03

Small Enough to Free the Table

At 3.9″ and 4.7″ across, a pair hung either side of a bed replaces two bulky table lamps and gives the nightstands back. The same scale keeps the sightline open when three run in a line above an island.

    04

Veining That Belongs to One Shade

Every shade is cut from natural stone, so the drift running through it exists on that piece alone. Hang two side by side and they will not match — which is exactly how you know it is stone and not a moulded imitation.

    ∅ 3.9″ × H 5.9″ and ∅ 4.7″ × H 7.9″ · both available as a single pendant or a three-light row

Sizing tip: Both sizes are small by design, so over a dining table or island they work best in twos and threes rather than alone — that is what the three-light version is for. The two sizes differ in height as well as width, so pick one and stay with it across a single run. Beside a bed, a pair of the 4.7″ frees the nightstands the way a table lamp cannot.

    Two Fixtures in One

A Stone Off, a Lantern On

Alabaster is one of the few materials that changes character when you switch it on. Because this shade is a single closed capsule with no opening at either end, the whole surface changes at once — there is no lit face and unlit back.

    Switched Off

    A Polished Stone, Nothing More

Unlit, the shade reads as quiet white with only the faintest grain showing, and the brass fitting is the single warm note. There is no bulb visible and no opening to look into — by daylight it behaves like a small carved object hanging from the ceiling.

    Switched On

    Warm Right Through

Lit, the whole capsule warms to honey-gold and the grain that was almost invisible draws itself across the surface. Because light passes through the stone rather than escaping from an opening, there is no glare from any angle — which is why it works beside a bed.

The honey tone comes from the bulb. What you see on the right is a warm-white source at around 2700K. Fit cool white at 4000K or above and the same stone turns grey rather than gold — the single most common reason an alabaster fixture disappoints. Bulbs are not included; the socket takes a G9 base, and an LED runs far cooler inside a closed stone shade than halogen does.

    The Three-Light Option

    Three Pendants, Not One Fixture

The three-light version is exactly that — three separate pendants, each with its own cord and its own canopy. They are not joined by a bar or a shared plate, which changes both what you can do with them and what your electrician needs to know.

    Three Ceiling Boxes Required

Because each pendant mounts on its own canopy, a three-light set needs three junction boxes rather than one. Worth confirming with your electrician before the drywall goes up — adding a box afterwards is the expensive part, not the fixture.

    Space Them However You Like

A linear bar locks the spacing at whatever the manufacturer decided. Separate pendants do not — set them 24–30″ apart over an island, wider over a long counter, or stagger the heights down a stairwell. The arrangement is yours.

They Do Not Have to Sit Together

Three separate pendants can go three separate places — two either side of a bed and one in the hallway, or one each over a sink, a counter and a breakfast table. Buying the set is often simply the cheaper way to get three.

    One Batch of Stone

Ordering the set means all three shades are cut around the same time, so their veining sits closer in tone than three ordered separately. They will still not be identical — that is the nature of natural stone, and part of why a row of them looks collected rather than manufactured.

Before you order the set: Check you have three ceiling boxes where you want the pendants, or budget for an electrician to add them. Each cord is shortened on site, so the three can hang level or staggered as you prefer — decide that before installation rather than after, and set all three drops in one go so the line reads even.

    Questions, Answered

    Alabaster Pendant FAQ

    Is the stone real alabaster?
Yes — natural alabaster, carved and polished from quarried stone. That is why the grain runs differently through every shade and why the glow varies with the thickness of the cut. A moulded resin shade repeats the same pattern on every unit; stone cannot.
    Why don't two shades match?
Because each is cut from natural stone, no two are patterned alike. Some come through almost clear, others carry grey or amber channels that only surface once the light is on. Hang two side by side and the difference will show — which is the clearest way to tell stone from a moulded imitation.
Is a bulb included, and which one should I use?
No — the fixture takes a G9 base and bulbs are not included. Choose an LED rather than halogen: a G9 LED draws only a few watts and runs far cooler inside a closed stone shade. For colour, use warm white around 2700K; cool white at 4000K or above turns alabaster grey rather than gold.
    Can it be dimmed?
Yes, provided you fit dimmable bulbs and pair them with a compatible wall dimmer. The fixture uses a standard socket with no built-in driver, so dimming depends entirely on the bulb you choose. Check the packaging says dimmable before you buy.
    Which size should I choose?
The 3.9″ suits a crowded bedside, a narrow bar counter or a longer run of four or more. The 4.7″ is the everyday choice — a pair over nightstands, or three above a kitchen island. Note the two sizes differ in height as well as width (5.9″ and 7.9″), so pick one and stay with it across a single run.
What exactly is the three-light version?
Three separate pendants, each with its own cord and its own canopy — not one fixture on a shared bar. That means a three-light set needs three ceiling junction boxes, which is worth confirming with your electrician before ordering. In exchange you can space them however you like, or put them in three different rooms.
How is it installed, and can I adjust the drop?
It is hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box, for indoor dry locations only. The cord is shortened on site, so you can set the drop for a low bedroom ceiling or a taller kitchen. We recommend a licensed electrician. Handle the shade by its brass fitting rather than the stone while it is being hung.
How do I clean it, and can I use it in a bathroom?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth only. Alabaster is porous and softer than glass — a fingernail can mark it — so avoid damp cloths, glass cleaner, vinegar and anything abrasive. For the same reason, keep it to dry indoor spaces: this fixture is rated IP20 and steam will mark the stone permanently. Let it cool before cleaning.
